Not ten years of steady work—ten years of returning, leaving, and coming back when the world looked different. Fifty-nine documented sessions. Each one a decision about what stays and what gets buried.

I thought I knew what I was making, but the painting knew better. It held onto a moment until the emotion of the time caught up to it. At some point, a painting stops being yours and starts being itself—and you just have to let it go.
